Storefront opera companies are part of the same scene, but operate completely independently from each other. Some may focus on smaller-scale performances of the classics of grand opera, others may highlight the work of living composers, or composers from marginalized communities. One thing they have in common, though, is the robust pool of talent Chicago has to offer. Singers, instrumentalists, conductors, directors, music directors, stage managers, designers... they're all committed to telling spectacular stories in intimate settings that you won't find anywhere else.
